Music Resources from the Teaching Museum
Spizz's Music Shop is an adorable video resource hosted by the FCS Teaching museum. Let Spizz and his friends teach your younger grades about expressive musical vocabulary! |
Reinforcing Expressive terms with Play-Alongs
Rhythm play-alongs aren't only useful for Unit 1 - keep using them throughout the year to reinforce rhythm concepts while also learning expressive terms! For example, check out this fun play-along that highlights Dynamic change in Vivaldi's "Spring". There's even a version for older students that can be found here, or if you want to see more about Rhythm Play-Alongs, return to the Unit 1 page. Shared by: Myra Wheat |

Statues with the Rakes of Mallow
This adorable resource is a great way to start your Movement unit, use as a warm up piece at the start of class, or use as a brain break for behavior management or lesson transitions. This PowerPoint is cued to change poses every 10 seconds to Leroy Anderson's Rakes of Mallow. An easy extension could be to change up the music each week or to sub in photos of your actual students doing poses. They LOVE to see themselves on screen! "Be where You Need to Be" Visuals
These images are great for visual learners and especially helpful during the movement unit when you need scatter space, longways set, concentric circles, and so on. Instead of spending time explaining with words, simply show the picture of the shape they need to make and let them "be where they need to be"! Credit: Toni Jove |
